What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Manager position at Combined Metals Company LLC?
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze inventory to assist districts in maintaining optimal turnover and availability of material for meeting customer needs. This includes the establishment of regional distribution hubs and appropriate consolidation of C & D items.
- Assist in the resolution of mill or customer claims. Assess supplier performance on claims resolution and advise the procurement team when any vendor has an excessive problem rate.
- Keep abreast of changing economic and industry conditions in order to project their potential impact on the demand for our products.
- Maintain communications with district sales and management to gain market perspective, to receive feedback on inventory issues, and to gauge their satisfaction.
- Monitor special customer inventory programs to be certain the material is being used as planned. Advise the General Manager, Sales Manager, Sales and procurement teams when problems arise in these programs.
- Prepare inventory management reports as required for the General and Sales Managers and/or sales staff.
- Develop and administer inventory management training for district personnel.
- Manage excess or slow-moving inventory items to expedite transfer or other disposal. This includes the responsibility for determining that the costs are not preventing disposal of these excess or problem inventory items. Communicate with district sales, purchasing and other regions as appropriate to facilitate the needed reductions.
- Initiate the replenishment of low or depleted "Stock Out" stock items through purchasing or other districts, and markdowns as required. Work with vendors and other branches to locate and expedite material to meet our needs.
- Provide assistance and information with regard to procedures on order entry, allocation of materials, excessive adjustments, and other systemic problems with local inventory management
- Supervise employees including conducting performance and salary reviews in a timely manner and providing training and development for those individuals supervised.
- Traveling, including overnight travel as necessary to perform critical job functions.
- Quality Responsibility: Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the outcome of their position.
- Lead and manage cycle count and annual physical inventories.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
- Minimum 2 years relevant inventory management or distribution experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Associate’s degree required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Speak conversational English
- Forecast modeling knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of the economic drivers that impact our, as well as our customers', industry and products
- Financial analysis and interpretation
- Good communication , interpersonal skills, motivation, negotiating, organization, problem solving, handling outside contacts, coping with difficulties and emergencies, promoting safety attitudes and practices, supervision.
- Must be able to concentrate and maintain productivity in high pressure situations
- Ability to travel overnight on occasion
- Must have Microsoft 365 experience, including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
Working Conditions (Including Physical and Mental Demands):
- Manual dexterity for use of computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed
- Ability to speak, hear and interpret sounds and speech
- Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day, occasionally 8 hours, occasionally position will require stooping, kneeling or crouching for less than 8 hours per day
- Ability to carry up to 10 lbs.
