Job Summary
Responsible for the monthly close process related to revenue. Responsibilities include preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, analysis of monthly results, preparation of monthly revenue to billing reconciliations, recurring and ad-hoc SQL queries, and special projects as requested.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Compile, adjust and evaluate various accruals to ensure their accuracy.
- Prepare additional account and other analyses as requested by management.
- Ensures that balance sheets are accurately stated and reconciled to the general ledger. Researches variances, determines root causes and makes recommendations for adjustments.
- Enters monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry.
- Reviews financial statements for operating trends and results, researching variances to forecast and budget prior month and prior year.
- Prepares financial reports, analyzing data for management review.
- Researches complex accounting data in order to comply with new accounting policy implementation.
- Researches and develops automated Oracle routines such as mass allocations and reoccurring journal entries.
- Researches ways of streamlining and standardizing processes to support the Accounting function.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Skills:
- Utilize SQL and SQL Server databases, Tableau, Excel and other reporting software to design and generate reports as requested. Implement report automation when applicable.
- Assist management in identifying and delivering new reporting capabilities. Able to take reporting asks from idea to implementation. Recommend innovative solutions.
- Evaluate current practices, models, and recurring tasks for potential automation using advanced Excel and other technical skills (Macros, Visual Basic, etc..).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industry or similar work environment.
- Advanced Excel skills including Macros required.
- SQL query skills with applicable work experience required.
- Experience with Oracle & Essbase/Smartview a plus.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Self-starter willing to expand & learn new skill sets.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
