Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Medical Scribe to join our healthcare team. The Medical Scribe will work closely with healthcare providers to document patient encounters in real time, ensuring accurate and comprehensive medical records. This role is essential in improving provider efficiency and enhancing patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately document patient histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) during real-time patient encounters.
- Record diagnostic test results, lab findings, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider.
- Assist in preparing medical charts and reviewing prior medical history for upcoming patient visits.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure clarity and completeness of medical records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Support the provider with clerical tasks, such as retrieving medical records, completing forms, and assisting with workflow efficiency.
- Stay up to date with medical terminology and procedures relevant to the practice.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related fields (preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience as a medical scribe, transcriptionist, or in a clinical setting is a plus but not required.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and documentation.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (experience with [specific EMR software, if applicable] preferred).
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
