Position Summary
The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for all facets of the Housekeeping Department to ensure high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. The Executive Housekeeper is the primary team leader for the Housekeeping Department which includes Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, Inspectors, and House person.
Primary Responsibilities
· Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff: recommend hiring, recommend terminations, performing disciplinary action, performance evaluations, training and development.
· Schedule staff according to labor standards and forecasted occupancy.
· Assigning daily boards to housekeeping team members
· Manages contract labor relationship and needs, training for contract labor positions
· Evaluate equipment including vacuums, washers and dryers, carts, etc. and work with other managers if equipment needs repairs or replacement
· Assist General Manager in development of the department's annual budget. Monitor performance against plan.
· Enforce company and departmental policies and procedures.
· Maintain room quality based on hotel objectives. Monitors and maintains level of cleanliness in rooms, storage areas, laundry, restrooms and public areas. Checks VR rooms to make sure they are vacant, clean and ready. Checks storage area to see if there are enough housekeeping supplies
· Compile and report accurate status of guest rooms to front office.
· Checks all clean rooms & then immediately updates them in the computer; should constantly check all clean rooms throughout the day
· Coordinates with the front desk to see that all guests have either checked-out of their rooms or paid for another night
· Enforce standard procedures for the acceptance, security, and return on guest lost and found items.
· Ensures that all storage areas all locked & that all housekeepers’ sheets & executive housekeeper sheet are turned in to the front desk before leaving
· Ensure that housekeepers take less than 10 minutes to load their carts with all the necessary supplies
· Ensures that all housekeepers have turned off all electricity (heat & air on fan or cool setting -5), stripped all beds in checked-out rooms, and dropped all linens to laundry before any cleaning is done
· Evaluate housekeeping carts to see if all bottles are correctly labeled & that the cart is neat and clean
· Maintain productivity and labor cost goals.
· Establish and maintain cost control systems for staffing linen inventories and cleaning supplies. Conduct inventories of linen, supplies and equipment. Order and receive supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
· Ensure quality services are rendered in meeting guest needs and that guest relations are enhanced.
· Ensuring satisfactory scores with brand by preparing for audits, evaluating results, and collaborating with management and team with necessary improvements
· Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience
· High school diploma or GED required
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience in all aspects of Housekeeping in a large, multi-use facility required
· Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
· Standing for long periods of time to inspect guest rooms and public areas
· Sitting, walking, and standing during shift
· Lifting/carrying stocking supplies and materials 50 to 75 pounds
· Ability to move furniture and flip mattresses
· Ability to perform duties for supervised employees
