Job Summary:
The Hotel Maintenance Person plays a crucial role in ensuring the hotel’s smooth operation by performing general maintenance tasks to support overall property upkeep. This position is a combination of handyman duties, property management assistance, and groundskeeping responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be versatile, reliable, and proactive, helping maintain the comfort and safety of guests and staff while ensuring the property is well-kept both inside and out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs for the hotel’s facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems (under supervision or guidance where necessary).
- Repair and maintain guest room fixtures, furniture, and appliances.
- Address maintenance issues such as clogged drains, faulty lights, or damaged furniture.
- Assist with setting up and moving equipment and furniture as needed for events or renovations.
Property Support:
- Assist the Property Manager with minor inspections and walk-throughs to assess the condition of the building, ensuring that everything is functioning properly and safely.
- Assist in implementing preventive maintenance programs, ensuring that all systems are up to standard and maintaining the overall condition of the building.
- Ensure all areas of the property (including guest rooms, public spaces, and offices) are properly maintained, clean, and free of hazards.
Groundskeeping:
- Maintain the hotel grounds, ensuring the exterior is well-kept and appealing, including lawn care, weeding, trimming bushes, and snow removal (as required).
- Ensure the parking lot, sidewalks, and entryways are clear of debris and hazards.
Guest Interaction:
- Respond promptly to guest requests for maintenance or service-related issues, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with guests and staff to ensure timely resolutions of maintenance concerns.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety procedures and regulations for all maintenance work and ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire codes.
- Regularly inspect and maintain safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and safety signage.
Team Support:
- Assist other departments as needed, such as housekeeping and front desk, with special requests or minor repairs.
- Work closely with the Property Manager to identify areas of improvement and assist with ongoing property maintenance projects.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in maintenance or a similar role preferred, but not required.
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is a plus.
- Ability to handle light groundskeeping, such as lawn mowing, weeding, and snow removal.
- Basic knowledge of handyman tasks, including minor repairs and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- A valid driver’s license may be required for property-related duties.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Comfortable working at heights (on ladders, scaffolding, etc.).
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Use of basic tools and safety equipment.
