Sheet Metal Apprentice

As a Sheet Metal Apprentice, you work with the mechanical construction team to fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical systems on various commercial and industrial construction sites.
Job Duties
- Assists with the installation of a variety of HVAC materials including but not limited to round pipe/spiral duct, flex duct, motorized dampers, air devices, louvers and air moving equipment
- Assist with fabrication or altering of materials using shears, hammers, punches, snips, drills, brakes, and bending rollers along with other handheld and power tools
- Install support hangers, make duct connection using clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, sheet metal screws, etc.
- Assist with drilling and punching holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets, and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct tape, connect to branch duct
- Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned
- 1 or more years of experience working with the HVAC/mechanical trade preferred
- Current/valid apprentice license in applicable state
- Willingness to learn to read blueprints and shop drawings
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and ability to read a tape measure
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to perform routine measurements and calculations. Ability to work with fractions, percentages, and decimals
- Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude
- Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter
- Complies and promotes company Safety Policy
- Requires basic mechanical aptitude and English language skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to work overtime if needed
- Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening
- Ability to pass MVR check
- Ability to travel, as needed, for projects
- Wage Range Starting at: $16.00/hr. based on qualifications & experience
