Position Summary :
Command Cyber Solutions (a federal government contractor) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator - Operating Systems tojoin our IT team in support of a client located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining our large-scale operating system infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and optimal performance across multiple platforms, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Servers. The role will work within a team culture of Passion, Trust, and Empathy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly redundant, scalable, enterprise-class systems and services on RHEL and Windows Server platforms
- Implement and manage configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) for automation and standardization of server builds, configurations, and updates
- Monitor system performance, security, and availability using tools like ServiceNow, Remedy, and Jira
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for RHEL and Windows systems
- Apply, manage, and perform system upgrades, patches, and security updates, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements
- Manage operating systems within virtualization environments, including VMware and container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and improve existing systems, with a focus on cloud migration and deployment to AWS / Azure
- Develop and maintain documentation for systems and processes, including system administration guides and troubleshooting procedures
- Implement and validate Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and ensure vulnerability and anti-virus software agents and definitions are current
- Manage user access, maintain disk space on NAS and SAN architectures, and perform change management following established policies and procedures
