Forklift Operator

Commencement Bay Corrugated is a full-service corrugated box plant, founded and incorporated in 1980. The Plant is 360,000 square feet and employs approximately 180 people. CBC manufactures custom boxes and sheets for customers located in the Western United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. Customer industries include fresh produce, processed foods, meat, fish, beverage, and industrial packaging. The Plant has a capacity to produce over 1 billion square feet of corrugated boxes and sheets per year and specializes in value-added high graphics packaging; offering direct print up to six colors and four color process print with aqueous or UV coating.

Starting pay for a Forklift Operator position is $28.35/hour, with the first pay increase of $1/hr at 4 months. There is a shift differential of $1/hr on graveyard, and $0.65/hr on Swing shift. Additional pay increases per union contract.

Forklift Operator Responsibilities:

· Understands and follows all safety rules and regulations.

· Maintains forklift by completing drivers’ checklist at the beginning of every shift; reporting maintenance needed to maintenance needed to the maintenance supervisor.

· Receives incoming shipments; examines for damage and insures that the count matches the Bills of Lading.

· Unloads unitizing line and puts units in the warehouse that are not going to be shipped immediately; maintains a safe stacking procedure at all times.

· Returns pallets to their designated area when they are brought back from customers and or being delivered on an off shift.

· Warehouse sheet stock both palletized and slip sheets.

· Reports any damaged product to the Supervisor.

· Reports and damage to forklifts to the Supervisor.

· Counts finished goods inventory and helps in other ways to keep the flow of product going efficiently, when required.

· Performs similar job related duties as required.

Follow all plant rules and policies.

Able to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays.

Able to work day shift, swing shift, or night/graveyard shift.

Qualifications:

Prior sitdown forklift experience required.

Prior Manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred, but not required.

High School Diploma or equivalent, and have basic computer skills.

Ability to read a tape measure and process basic math. (Test given at interview)

Possess the knowledge of pallet sizes in inventory and ability to recoginize defective stock.

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a safe manner. Ability to operator and perform machine checks.

Able to operate a forklift in all weather conditions and situations and sit for 8-12 hours on a forklift, while also being able to mount/dismount forklift and walk/stand.

Able to manually operator forklift controls and able to withstand dusty and noisy conditions.
