Event Specialist - Part Time

Under the guidance of our Recreation Coordinator and Supervisor, you'll assist in organizing, marketing, and executing a variety of exciting community events. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and implementation of large-scale events
• Must be accountable, flexible, and adept at conflict resolution
• Strong ability to perform job duties autonomously
• Attentive to the care and safety of participants and guests during event hours, maintaining a safe environment, and addressing any safety concerns immediately
• Work closely with other City departments, vendors, and community members for event support
• Act as site supervisor during event hours and provide directions for contractors, vendors, volunteers, recreation staff, and participants as needed
• Manage multiple tasks for event preparation and setup in areas of the recreation centers, as well as off-site parks
• Responsible for purchasing and transporting equipment and supplies as necessary for events while following the budget requirements provided by the supervisor
• Assist in and attends a variety of meetings, such as staff meetings and on-site event meetings with internal and external event partners
• Complete large van driver training (provided by the City) and act as a van driver for transport event supplies
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must possess a current CPR/First Aid certificate or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire date. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and supply motor vehicle record prior to hire.

Equipment Used, Work Environment and Physical Activities

• Driving: Drives a city or personal vehicle in the normal course of business
• Office Equipment: Daily use of computer, keyboard, copier, scanner, printer, calculator, phone (desk & cell), camera, and electronic diagnostic equipment. Daily use of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel
• Other Equipment: Occasional use of ladders.
• Physical Activities: Moderate physical activity that may include walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting & carrying
• Lifting: Frequently lifts, carries, and exerts up to 50 pounds
• Vision and Hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents. Must be able to answer telephones, communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquires.Must be able to recognize sound on construction sites that indicate nearby equipment and/or safety hazards
• Exposure to Environmental Conditions: Will be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dry, wet, odors, smoke, loud noises, vibrations, dust or intense light and hazards normally associated with construction sites. May be exposed to chemicals including cleaners, solvents, paints and other potentially toxic agents. Work may be performed in precarious or tight spaces.
• Schedule: Position generally scheduled Monday - Friday; occasionally weekend work. May require attendance at off-site meetings.
• Additional Working Conditions:May be exposed to work settings that vary in convenience and comfort. May be required to visit external, non-city work sites with the City having limited control over the work environment.
• Safety Sensitive: This position is subject to the city’s drug screening

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.

The hiring range for this position is $22.86 - $24. 20 / per hour.

Benefits:

Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.

Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.

Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.

Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.

Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase around the time of their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation.
