Job Description:
The HR Generalist will be responsible for providing daily on-site HR support in a unionized environment. This role will serve as the subject matter expert of HR policies and processes and will require in-depth knowledge of HR best practices. The HR Generalist will be responsible for recruitment, personnel maintenance, benefits administration, employee relations, training / development programs, and safety. This position will have a dotted line reporting structure to the plant General Manager.
This position will work closely with the Director of Human Resources, payroll department, and production managers.
Responsibilities:
· Assist with managing employee timecards and call-offs
· Manage and apply company attendance policy by generating weekly reports and issuing necessary disciplinary actions.
· Day-to-day filing and employee changes in ADP WorkforceNow
· Facilitate the completion of HR forms
· Manage open enrollment
· Maintain HRIS system (ADP)
· Administer HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws
· Manage safety program and oversee safety committee
· Lead and manage annual performance reviews
Manage the onboarding and offboarding process
· Identify opportunities to improve HR processes
· Manage full-cycle recruiting including job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews and onboarding
· Manage employee leave of absence
· Serve as subject matter expert of collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
· Ensure OSHA and Workers’ compensation compliance
· Interpret and prepare documentation in relation to grievances or other legal matters
· The first point of contact for HR related vendors
· Coordinate employee engagement events
· Advise employees on changes in policies, procedures and benefits
· Assist leadership in addressing employee relations issues or concerns
Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required
· 5-7 years of proven HR experience
· Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
· Experience working in a union environment preferred
· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
· Experience with ADP WorkforceNow or similar systems preferred
· Excellent verbal and written communication required
· Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiating skills
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
· Must be willing to work on-site
Working Conditions:
This position will be in a manufacturing environment in an office setting.
Physical Demands:
· Physical ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally walk to the production floor
· Must be able to use hands and fingers to key in data
· Must be able to use telephone and spoken communication
