Production Shift Supervisor

Commercial Plastics seeks a Shift Supervisor for 1st Shift for our manufacturing facility in Waverly, NE. We are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth in our Waverly, NE Facility. SUMMARY

Provide the necessary leadership to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control the quality and productivity of a team of approximately 20 production employees. Work closely with Management and support staff to ensure quality objectives and customers’ expectations are met. Meet or exceed Commercial Plastic’s expected daily productivity goals.  Maintain the established company policies.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Direct: Director of Operations

The following positions report directly to the Shift Supervisor:

• Operators
• Process Technicians
• AV Technicians
• Material Handlers
• Quality Inspectors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assign and oversee labor of production team according to predefined production priorities (insuring employee job rotation)
• Oversee and ensure job skills training of employees for safe operation of equipment per quality standards
• Complete and conduct employee performance reviews in a fair, equitable, timely and efficient manner
• Maintain an orderly and disciplined work environment (using Commercial Plastics’ progressive disciplinary process)
• Ensure production work orders are completed via the production schedule
• Competent reporting of production jobs and maintaining in-house control systems daily. (IQMS)
• Coordinate material needs with the supply warehouse
• Support a safe work environment
• Actively communicate safety policies, training opportunities, hazard information, and best practices to all employees
• Maintain the established company policies regarding safety and disciplinary actions
• Review and approve timecards weekly (ADP)
• Manage communication and document flow to all departments, including management.
• Work closely with support staff to make sure parts comply with the quality standards
• Correct or address production issues
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• HS degree (post high school coursework, AS degree, or trade school preferred) or/and 7 years of experience.

• Working knowledge of computer software programs (Excel, Word), OSHA regulations and standards, ISO 9001:2015.
• 3 years of experience with the injection molding process.
• Demonstrated basic knowledge/skill in following areas: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, process water systems.
• Troubleshooting and math skills.
• Microsoft Office, working knowledge of ERP system, and/or IQMS is a plus.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to lead and motivate subordinate employees and to teach relevant skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• This position will require ongoing walking, sitting, standing and handling production pieces. 
• Lifting of products, boxes and skid is required, up to 50lbs (hand pallets and FT’s are available)
• Must be able to work under pressure.  
• Multitask oriented and the ability to work as a team or be self-governed. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position will work in the office as well as production areas. There may be exposure to noise, dust and fumes
• This is a climate-controlled facility
