Commercial Plastics is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician (Preventative Maintenance) on 1st Shift for our manufacturing facility in Waverly, NE. Essential duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician can include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on molding presses and support equipment
- Perform minor repair under supervision of Maintenance Supervisor
- Assist in development and use of preventive maintenance schedule under direction of Maintenance Supervisor
Preventative Maintenance
- Lubricate and check equipment as scheduled and/or necessary.
- Report any problems needing immediate attention to Maintenance Supervisor
- Check compressed air systems, central water cooling and vacuum systems on molding presses
- General repair that can be done while equipment is running without presenting safety hazards
- Perform monthly, semi-annual and annual maintenance as scheduled and assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
Communication
- Meet with supervisor daily
- Report any non-emergency problems needing attention
- Report any potential problems found during regular maintenance checks
- Maintain list and report supplies/equipment needs
Housekeeping
- Maintain clean, organized work areas as. directed by Maintenance Supervisor
- General clean-up and repair of mechanical problems and hydraulic leaks on equipment
- Clean support equipment before storing
Safety
- Keep work areas free of excessive materials or equipment that would restrict emergency evacuation of plant or access to electrical panels
- Oil and water leaks cleaned up to prevent slipping or falling
- Operate forklifts, scissors lift and electric pallet jacks slowly around congested areas and always sound horn at blind intersections
- Report any damaged equipment, broken electrical plugs, switches, gauges, etc. to supervisor
- Inspect all equipment and tools regularly for hazardous conditions and report to supervisor results of inspections
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in maintenance preferred
- Basic working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and plumbing
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow instructions as assigned by supervisor
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible in work duties
- Capable of lifting and carrying 55 pounds
- Displays good communication skills in working within department and with other departments
- Ability to organize daily workload to accommodate extra duties or emergency jobs as required
- Must be able to qualify and maintain forklift certification
Required Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Required Mathematical Skills:
- Basic math skills
Required Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
