Record Management System
The RMS project is intended to transform LAPD’s business, particularly in how the LAPD collects, stores, and uses information. A comprehensive modern RMS will enable key capabilities throughout the Department, including effective shared information among LAPD operational units, process efficiencies, reduction of redundant and manual processes, and improved analytics. Due to the size of this large initiative, the LAPD is planning a phased approach over multiple years. A highly experienced Project Manager is needed to develop project plans and project schedules, manage and track project activities and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of the implementation phase of this complex IT project.

The Records Management Project Manager must have extensive experience managing information technology projects related to the evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and operational management of complex IT implementation projects. Additionally, the ideal candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s).

- Develop project plans and project schedules;
- Manage and track project activities and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of complex IT implementation and enhancement projects;
- Developing project charters, defining, managing, and tracking project scope, cost, and schedule;
- Preparing project status reports, identifying, and resolving issues, and mitigating project risks.
The Records Management Project Manager must have extensive experience managing information technology projects related to the evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and operational management of complex IT implementation projects. Additionally, the ideal candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability;
- Strong requirements gathering, analysis, and management skills;
- Significant experience in project management methodologies (such as PMBOK) with strong knowledge of all facets of project management processes, controls, and artifacts;
- Experience in managing all facets of a typical system implementation lifecycle, e.g. analysis, design, build, testing, transitioning to production and into support;
- Experienced with scheduling software tools (such as MS Project), spreadsheets and data tools (such as MS Excel) and standard office tools (such as MS PowerPoint and MS Word);
- Good communication skills, written and oral;
- Self-starter with drive, initiative, and a positive attitude.
