The Network Administrator (“Network Engineer”) who will primarily focus on designing, configuring, and managing on-premises and cloud networks that meet operational needs.
In addition to network design and configuration, the Network Engineer will play a crucial role in decommissioning obsolete network segments to optimize performance and resource utilization. This includes troubleshooting issues with switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute), executing the systematic removal of legacy components, and ensuring the stability and efficiency of our network infrastructure through advanced technical expertise.
The ideal Network Engineer should excel in designing on-premises and cloud networks, configuring switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect). They must troubleshoot issues, decommission legacy components, and create network diagrams using advanced tools. Knowledge of network protocols and collaboration with city staff for testing and training are vital.
Contractor shall meet the following key high-level work products and outcomes: Design, manage, and troubleshoot on-premises and cloud network architectures aligned with business goals.

- Create detailed network diagrams and update documentation to support infrastructure reliability.
- Conduct performance testing to validate network scalability and efficiency.
- Deliver training and knowledge transfer to city staff on network processes.
Requirements:
The qualified candidate must possess the following skills and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 3 years of proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role, with a track record of designing and managing robust on-premises and cloud network architectures.
- 5 years of demonstrated technical proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network switches, routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect).
- Strong expertise in network design, decommissioning legacy infrastructure, and optimizing performance in enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in creating detailed network diagrams and maintaining up-to-date documentation.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and adapt to changes in a fastpaced work environment.
- Certifications in related fields would be an advantage (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AZ-700).
- 5 years of experience managing and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure.
