Position Summary:
The Material Handler ensures the efficient movement and storage of materials within the facility. This position involves handling incoming and outgoing materials, organizing inventory, and supporting production activities to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips or purchase orders.
- Safely unload materials from delivery trucks using forklifts or other equipment as necessary.
- Store materials in designated locations within the warehouse or production area, ensuring proper organization and inventory control.
- Retrieve materials from storage areas and deliver them to production lines according to production schedules.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials onto machinery or production equipment as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Perform regular inventory counts and participate in cycle counting activities to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse and production areas, adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, often up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and vendors effectively.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
- Basic math skills for inventory tracking and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for handling hazardous materials.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as required by production schedules.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a warehouse/distribution environment.
