What are the responsibilities and job description for the Captain position at Commis?
Michelin Two Star - Commis Restaurant in Oakland is looking for a dynamic Bartender/Captain.
The Bartender/Captain role is an integral part of the FOH team at COMMIS. We are looking for a professional, hospitality-focused person with 2-3 years of experience as a fine-dining bartender with serving experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous FOH experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant. A successful candidate will possess a solid base knowledge of spirits, beer and wine and a desire to continue their beverage education.
Responsibilities include bar setup before service (batching cocktails, restocking, setting up the well, coffee/tea station, organizing reach-ins, cutting citrus and producing garnishes) and breakdown after service closing duties (wiping down bottles and well, cleaning the back bar, cleaning/polishing all bar glassware and utensils, cleaning bar top). Weekly deep cleaning is part of this position. 4 shifts per week.
Qualities of what we are looking for in the candidate:
- Bartended at Michelin Star property for 2 years or more
- Spirit & all beverage knowledge, sommelier court certification is a bonus
- High level of professionalism
