Overview
CommIT is seeking a Technical Writer with demonstrated expertise supporting projects for the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will create, edit and maintain clear and concise technical documentation, including user manuals, guides, and process and procedures. The Technical Writer will collaborate and work closely with various technical teams and stakeholders to understand technical concepts and ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation. This role is based in Quantico, VA, but can be REMOTE.

Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.
Responsibilities
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, guides, processes, schedules, and specifications
- Collaborate with engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation
- Develop easy-to-understand content for a variety of audiences, including technical and non-technical users
- Assist in the creation of diagrams, flowcharts, and other visual aids to enhance documentation
- Review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in software, features, and user feedback
- Assist in developing and maintaining project documents, records, schedules, and status update briefs
- Facilitate weekly internal and external meetings, as well as recording and maintaining meeting minutes and audio recordings for future reference
- Develop weekly status and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or from a technical writing or communication program preferred
- Five (5) years of professional experience
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to understand complex technical topics and translate them into easy-to-understand documentation
Security Requirements:
- Secret Clearance, or Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
