What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant Director/Director position at Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget?
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to educating policymakers, the media and citizens about the fiscal challenges facing the country, as well as the possible solutions. The Committee is made up of some of the nation's leading budget experts including many of the past Chairmen and Directors of the Budget Committees, the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office.
The Program Director/Assistant Director will manage the planning and implementation of various public policy related programs and projects the Committee is in the process of developing. Working across teams, this position will ensure that programs meet their objectives, quality standards, are delivered on time, and stay within budget. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a knowledge of the Committee’s work, and familiarity with key budget and fiscal policy issues. The position could be senior or mid-level depending on the applicant.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with senior staff to develop the program strategy, and oversee management of day-to-day program activities, including maintaining various project timelines and overseeing deliverables
- Ensure alignment of the program with organizational goals and strategies
- Coordinate and manage the execution of multiple projects to ensure they align with program goals
- Manage internal tracking systems to ensure programs are executed according to the guidelines set
- Support other organizational programs of the Committee as needed and assigned
- Engage external stakeholders and partners in support of program objectives
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience for Director-level and 7-10 for Assistant Director-level, Office of Management and Budget and Capitol Hill experience a plus
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment Excellent organizational and project management skills
- - able to establish and implement systems and identify resources to ensure successful completion of projects
- Strong communications skills (written & oral), extremely polished and professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills who can act as one of the faces of the organization
- Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
- Passion for the Committee’s work

Salary: $95,000 to $160,000 with generous benefits package including health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; 403(b) contribution; and paid time off.
