Commodity Forwarders is looking for a full time Domestic Customer Service Agent to fill a position within our Operations department. This is a non-exempt position with an hourly starting rate of $21/hr. depending on the experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join our Boston Branch.
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9 am - 5:30 pm
Your Role:
- Ensure the successful and timely movement of cargo from origin to destination to fulfill customer’s and vendor's instructions and procedures are followed at all times.
- Process claim paperwork timely and accurately with carriers.
- Ensure all work completed meets Commodity Forwarders standards.
- Complete pre-bookings as your department lead advise.
- Ensure all freight forwarding activities abide by all government laws and regulations at origin and destination.
- Ensure all necessary reports and records are complete, timely, and accurate.
- Assist the sales team to achieve the goals for customer retention and new sales.
- Respond promptly to booking requests from other departments or stations.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 2 years customer service experience in logistics (Preferred).
- Basic Computer Skills including e-mail, web browsing, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Strong grasp of geography to determine best freight forwarding routes.
- Customer service and vendor relations skills over the phone and in person.
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
Work environment is fast paced; multi-tasking and handling high-pressure situations is preferred. Depending on season, weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
