What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consumer Loan Support Specialist position at Commodore Perry Federal Credit Union?
The Consumer Loan Support Specialist is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and thoughtful handling our members’ loan applications. This role is responsible for building and maintaining successful member relationships by processing, funding and servicing loans to the member’s satisfaction, while ensuring that supporting documentation and records are accurately prepared according to Commodore Perry FCU policies. Organization, good communication and attention to detail are a requirement of this position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external members about underwriting philosophies, lending decisions, approval stipulations, loan products and services, credit bureau reports, MRC, GAP and Debt Protection products.
- Engages members and visitors through asking relevant and meaningful questions, getting to know their needs, making appropriate product and service recommendations, and developing customized follow-up plan with the member as appropriate.
- Opens new member accounts as needed when funding a loan. Ability to understand and explain all products to members.
- Responsible for consumer loan closings, assist with member applications and answers basic consumer lending questions, and supporting document gathering, up to and including offering/explaining debt protection with closings as needed.
- Explains the differences between a Home Equity Loan, Home Equity Line of Credit and Mortgage Loan to members and coordinates referrals to appropriate team or team member.
- Records detailed notes to document member interactions, complex situations, and loan closing to minimize lapse in employee communication or member service.
- Make exceptions to procedures as appropriate and within authority.
- Maintains member-owner confidence and protects credit union operations by keeping information confidential.
- Assist in developing, adhere to, and help enforce all departmental policy and procedures.
- Communicating issues with management and assist in creating solutions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Completely and accurately assemble loan file, process title work, process and cross sell CPI, GAP, MRC, and Debt Protection claims.
- Ensures members’ lending needs are being met by going beyond the initial need or expressed concern of the member.
- Contributes to team, and credit union wide goals by funding loans in a timely manner.
- Assist the Member Advocate as needed in the collections process.
- Certified Financial Counselor, trained in BOSS and firm closings.
- Cross sell other credit union products and services.
- Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy, OFAC and Privacy. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training. Complete other duties as assigned.
- Complete all forms of loan maintenance (Skip-Pays, due date changes, AFT & ACH payments and corrections, etc.) and all loan related transactions.
- Complete monthly audit of consumer loan files to ensure quality and completeness.
