Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Front of House Team Member to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be the face of our establishment, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests. You will work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and communication are essential. Usually, all Front of House Team Members are trained in register, expo, kitchen, and barista positions.
Opening shifts are from 6:30am-1pm and closing shifts are from 10:30am-4pm.
All workers in our cafe are on track to become worker-owners after a year of employment, meaning having an equal share in the cooperative and decision-making requiring some additional administrative responsibilities and initiative to be an equal collaborator with the rest of our team.
Duties
- Greet and welcome customers as they enter the establishment, ensuring a friendly atmosphere.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, utilizing the Toast POS system.
- Assist with food preparation and ensure that all food items meet our quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness in the dining area and kitchen.
- Craft delicious specialty coffee, espresso, and a variety of other drinks.
- Manage time effectively to ensure prompt service during peak hours.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food delivery and address any customer inquiries or concerns.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations within the food industry.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a high-volume cafe as a barista, line cook, or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of retail math for handling transactions and drawer counts accurately.
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with specialty coffee and espresso drink builds.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
