What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at Common Restaurant?
Common Restaurant are looking to add to our guest service team and are now accepting applications for host.
The host is a fun and active position, cross trained in several areas of the restaurant, including the front desk, bar, and expo.
At the front desk, the host is responsible for greeting guests and acting as the first impression of the restaurant; taking reservations via phone and in-person; and communicating with servers and managers regarding guests needs and concerns. Behind the bar, the host may assist to fulfill bar backing duties such as running glassware, stocking alcohol, and assisting to clear and turn the bar top. This position may also be cross-trained as an expo and Server's Assistant.
The successful candidate must have professional and effective communication skills and phone etiquette; the ability to work calmly under pressure; the ability to work with a diverse team and the general public; a strong ability to troubleshoot, anticipate needs, and problem solve; and the ability to multitask.
The successful candidate must also be able to stand for long periods of time; to work in occasionally chaotic environments where direction may come from multiple sources; to climb stairs multiple times a day; to speak on the phone professionally and effectively; to squat, bend, twist, and reach overhead; and to lift 25lbs.
