Common Threads is seeking a Program Manager to oversee programs in Brooklyn and Staten Island. The Program Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with elementary and middle schools, as well as community-based organizations, while managing the implementation of Common Threads’ in-school and after-school programs. The role includes ensuring high-quality program delivery, scheduling, auditing, and facilitating clear communication with school administrators, community partners, and the Common Threads team.

Frequent travel within Brooklyn and Staten Island, and occasionally across all five NYC boroughs, is required to visit partner schools and attend an annual training trip to Albany.

This position offers a hybrid work model, with onsite (Staten Island office) and remote days determined by the manager. Regular local travel to school and community partner sites is a key component of this role.

This position is funded through SNAP-Ed.

Responsibilities

Manage school/partner relationships in Queens and the Bronx, including:

  • Building and maintaining partnerships with schools and community organizations to expand SNAP-Ed programming.
  • Establishing a partnership with at least one healthcare provider.
  • Recruiting new schools and community-based organizations to meet network growth goals.
  • Scheduling and implementing programs in collaboration with school administrators and teachers.
  • Tracking proper funding allocation and ensuring accurate payment tracking for fee-for-service (FFS) initiatives.
  • Managing program components, including rosters, curriculum, and surveys.
  • Ensuring high-quality programming and maintaining strong school relationships through regular class visits.
  • Supporting grocery procurement for programming needs.
  • Tracking program data using the CRM system.
  • Collaborating with the Research and Evaluation team to ensure accurate data and reporting for SNAP-Ed funding.
  • Assisting the Development Department with compliance reporting and other program-related requests.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in nutrition, dietetics, public health, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience in health education, nutrition, and obesity prevention is preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Proven experience building and growing school, community, and healthcare-based partnerships in NYC.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Experience with Slack, Asana, and PEARS is a plus.
  • Comfortable working virtually and with diverse populations.

Additional Information: 

  • Background check and fingerprinting are required before employment.
  • The position primarily operates Monday-Friday, with occasional nights and weekends.
  • Candidates must reside in the NYC metro area.
  • Reports to the Senior Program Manager based in NYC.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid: Remote and on-site at the Staten Island office with travel within Queens, the Bronx, and occasionally other boroughs.
  • Home office setup with standard office equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
  • Occasionally lift and move supplies up to 25 pounds.
