Commonpoint is a multifaceted community center dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the quality of individual, family, and communal life throughout New York City, offering services to people of all ages, ability levels, stages of life, and backgrounds. They strive to meet the evolving needs of their community of over 100,000 members, ranging from providing in-school and after-school programs, professional and career development, assistance with food insecurity, legal services, financial counseling, mental health services, senior classes, dementia care programs, and tax preparation assistance, to name a few. Commonpoint has grown tremendously in the last five years and now has a mission-driven staff of 3,000 and over 80 sites in the five boroughs.
STATEMENT OF THE POSITION
Within our framework of a holistic, strength-focused, and family-supported practice, an individual hired as the Part Time
Program Coordinator will report directly to the Site Director, Learn & Earn Program. The positions will take place at
Queens High School of Teaching in Bellerose, NY.
Qualifications
Responsibilities
1. Establish a rapport with all program participants. Assist them in identifying their educational and career goals; help them to formulate future plans.
2. Implement and conduct workshops on work readiness, career development, life skills, and student enrichment.
3. Recruit students; and conduct intake assessments and interviews.
4. Monitor the attendance and academic progress of participants on assigned caseload.
5. Complete monthly case notes.
6. Engage weekly with participants through in-person, phone, email and Zoom contacts.
7. Provide interpersonal group and individual counseling.
8. Provide necessary referrals to community resources.
9. Work in a collaborative team, including participation in staff meetings and staff development in order to support
student progress.
10. Monitor and document student progress in various service areas (guidance and counseling, academic support, life
skills, work readiness).
11. Facilitate afterschool programming.
12. Monitor Worksites for Work, Learn, Grow and Summer Internship Program.
Job Details
Salary: $21/hr
Hours: Part-Time, up to 19 hours per week, School Year Term
Schedule: Proposed schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Location: Queens High School of Teaching, Bellerose, NY
Expected Start Date: April 2025

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Education required, masters preferred
- At least 1 year's experience working with high school youth in an urban setting.
- Astute knowledge of performance-based contracting with clients.
- Experience working with students on achieving positive outcomes for success.
- Workshop implementation experience preferred.

- Promote and implement the Core Values of the Community Center.
- Participation in all staff meetings and staff training seminars.
- Participation in agency-wide programs and program committees, as assigned.
- Active involvement, as a supervisee, in the supervision process.
- Support the mission of the Commonpoint Queens.
- Other tasks appropriate to the Commonpoint Queens staff, as assigned.
