As our Coordinator RN, you'll direct patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures of the nursing department, professional standards of nursing, applicable Federal and State laws, state nursing practice guidelines and regulatory agencies. Our Coordinator RN works collaboratively with all departments to assure highest quality of care for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
You'll assure safe, efficient operation of the clinical department(s) to ensure a smooth operation which includes performance improvement activities, quality care, proper documentation to ensure compliance and completeness. This position will also monitor productivity and financial measures within the unit operations. Your attention to detail will be essential in developing, reviewing and revising policies and procedures in conjunctions with the nursing practice council. Your organization skills will ensure all necessary tools and supplies are available and staffing needs are met.
Other areas of focus will include Trauma Coordinator and Stroke Coordinator. Working within this scope, the Coordinator RN will ensure continued Trauma designation. As the Stroke Coordinator you'll complete PI, education, and stroke data entry.
Furthermore, you'll utilize your leadership abilities as you will participate as a full, collaborative member of the nursing leadership council with other coordinators by participating in staffing, scheduling and budgeting. You'll mentor new staff directly, model positive and professional behavior and accountability.
To thrive in this role, you'll be an effective and clear communicator with physicians, co-workers and other departments to provide consistent care based on the changing physical, medical and psych-social needs unique to each patient. Provides feedback in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
- Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships and communications within the Department of Nursing, between Nursing and other departments and with all outside agencies and external customers.
- Shares responsibilities for collection of process improvement data, interpretation of data and implementation of PDSA process, in collaboration with other coordinators.
- Contributes to the establishment and maintenance of a safe environment for staff to provide nursing care.
- Follows established infection control practices.
- Encourages communication between team members to assure patient orders are transcribed and carried out and changes in patient condition are reported to appropriate personnel.
- Assigns patients to nursing staff members based on staff competencies and cross-training grid.
- Educates staff on trauma and stroke areas of improvement, new guidelines, and overall education.
- Communicates with physicians to ascertain their plans for a timely discharge.
- Has knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the Emergency Department and Trauma unit, and adheres to them.
- Shares responsibilities with other nursing leadership for developing and maintaining a staffing plan; makes recommendations for staffing.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
- Associate of Science in Nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in State of North Dakota (ND).
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC
Preferred:
- Computer skills preferred.
