The RN – House Supervisor directs and supervises nursing staff under the guidance of department managers in their absence. Promotes and maintains continuity of care for patients and is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all care during assigned shift. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization. This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supervising nursing units in the absence of unit managers.
- Active participant of calculating and monitoring Hours Per Patient Days along with acuity of patients, in relationship to staffing units accurately, safely, and cost effective under the direction of the unit manager.
- Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assists with required scheduling, staffing and assignments, and collaborates with other department managers/supervisors/charge to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients, enhances patient flow within the facility, and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes
- Receives report from off-going shift, give report to oncoming shift, and makes rounds
- Open on-going dialog with unit managers.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience | Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 1 year experience in the discipline OR 3 years’ experience in the discipline OR Master’s Degree and no experience. Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience and one (1) year of leadership experience |
Required Licensure and Certifications | RN: ND PALS ACLS BLS TNCC |
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training | Established leadership skills Knowledge of coaching and mentoring best practices Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to influence and motivate others in order to achieve targets within a determined time period Ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to use the internet for research and communication Must pass color blindness test |
