Responsibilities
The Monitor Techs are responsible for continuous monitoring of Telemetry patients rhythm notifying the RN and charge nurse of changes maintaining the equipment notifying Biomedical Engineering of equipment problems answering the call bell system and telephone. Monitor Techs are required to pass an annual EKG test. The Monitor Techs are responsible for providing administrative support to their unit. Monitor Techs complete order entry and transcription medical record maintenance and documentation supplies and equipment ordering pre-admission telephone and verification procedures scheduling a surgery or non-surgery hospital stay and assisting with discharge planning.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must pass EKG Test
- 6-month monitor tech experience
- Order transcription knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- AHA BLS card
