*Responsibilities*

  • JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE* A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a *new graduate *direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they *transition into practice*. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

  • ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* *Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care: *Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.

I*nterprofessional Collaboration and Communication: **Learns to *collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

  • Leadership: **Develops *accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity.
  • Professionalism: *Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self.

  • Nursing Assessment and Care: *Basic understanding of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.
  • Decision-Making and Critical Thinking: *Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Clinical Skills: *Basic understanding of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care, e.g. history taking, therapeutic planning and monitoring, etc., to achieve optimized outcomes in medication therapy and clinical treatment.

*Qualifications*

RN Residency Program

*Start Date: July 21, 2025*

Our next RN Residency program start date will begin July 2025. Completion will be based on 100% validation of competencies during your clinical hours. Our target candidates are nurses who have graduated within one year prior to the start of the program and who have not previously worked as a registered nurse or interim permittee.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing within the past 12 months from start of program.
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience.
  • An active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (interim permits cannot be accepted) upon hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required prior to start date.

* *Current ACLS from the American Heart Association required prior to start date.*

  • Additional Certifications to be required based on department selection.

*Pay Range*

$48.43 - $72.26 /hour
