Responsibilities
The Paramedic provides direct patient care:
- administers medications utilizing the five (5) Patient Rights
- identifies significant changes or high risk situations
- completes all documentation in a timely manner
- demonstrates knowledge and use of equipment encountered in the ambulance department or in hospital
- communicates patient status at transfer of care
- adjusts own workload as needed
- assess, identifies, and communicates staffing needs to Coordinator or adjusts staffing needs to current situation
- is responsible for the supervision, safety of EMT’s, staff, and bystanders, and coordinates the patient care with ancillary departments involved in either direct or indirect patient care
