Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
This position is responsible for all plumbing, piping and steam systems and equipment. These systems are life support systems or essential utilities, including medical gasses/vacuum. Sewage systems, domestic water supply, domestic hot and cold water generation and distribution and steam and condensation systems (i.e., sterilization).
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs, repairs and maintains hospital fixtures and equipment such as urinals, toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, faucets.
- Install, inspects, and maintains all existing plumbing systems and related lines such as hot and cold water lines, steam lines, sewer lines.
- Completes inspections of all plumbing systems and equipment according to established procedures completing log sheets, checklists and PM sheets as required.
- Completes required documentation in reference to mechanical systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
- Works as part of the project team.
- Assist other skilled workers and perform general maintenance work as requested.
- Assist Contractors with building information as needed.
- Facilitates the efficient operation of the department by answering the telephone and assisting callers or visitors with requests.
- Safe handling/disposal / packaging for Transport of Pharmaceutical Waste/ Hazardous Materials/Bio- Hazardous Regulated Medical Waste. 1) Completes the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Waste education during employee orientation. 2) Tri-annually education for the D.O.T training. 3) is knowledgeable of the process for identifying the proper waste stream and uses the appropriate container to dispose of waste. 4) Knowledgeable regarding the process to contact the emergency response coordinator for hazardous waste/pharmaceutical release/spill clean-up.
