Responsibilities
In keeping with the Dignity Heath core values, is responsible for providing specialty occupational therapy assessments and treatments to patients as evidenced by a high degree of expertise in a given area or areas. Provides training and/or supervision to staff occupational therapists. May supervise or be responsible for a particular program such as inservice coordinator, followup program and/or day to day operations of a particular area of the department. May have specialty certification in occupational therapy fields such as NDT, orthopedics, or neurology.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience; evidence of extensive training in a given specialty area. Specialty areas may include but not be limited to: neuro rehabilitation, orthopedics, pediatrics, hand rehabilitation, pain management and work hardening.
- Current California license in Occupational Therapy.
- AHA BLS card.

- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians, hospital departments and the general public.
- Demonstrates knowledge of teaching and leadership skills including a proficiency for conceptual thinking, motivating, teaching principles and problem solving.
- Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of the principles, standard practices, procedures and equipment utilized in the department.
- Ability and willingness to actively participate in departmental and hospital programs.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to achieve results through good organizational skills and prioritization of work.
- Knowledge and understanding of pertinent standards and regulations including DHS and The Joint Commission.
- Ability to gather, comprehend and interpret data for Quality Improvement activities.
- Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team oriented environment.
- Ability to mentor/coach student interns or oversee their clinical experience.
- Ability to be flexible with caseload within any given day, as needed for the benefit of the department. Promotes O.T. services in the community as appropriate.
