Purpose
The Closing Shift Manager at Good Foods Grocery is responsible for overseeing store closing operations, ensuring a clean and organized store environment, providing support to evening staff, and being the primary Manager on Duty during the shift. This role requires attention to detail, strong leadership skills, people management experience, and the ability to maintain store safety and security while completing all required closing tasks.
General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and enforce Good Foods Grocery (GFG) and Commonwealth Autism policies and procedures.
- Monitor work email during business hours for timely responses.
- Support GFG’s goals and community involvement.
- Communicate project needs and priorities clearly before the end of each shift.
- Foster a respectful and productive work environment, setting a positive example for the team.
- Ensure all duties are covered during absences and proactively suggest improvements.
- Work toward leadership growth and contribute to the overall success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Manager On Duty Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff and customer concerns during evening shifts.
- Address any urgent issues that arise, including customer service concerns and operational challenges.
- Ensure all staff members are following company policies and safety protocols.
- Communicate any significant incidents or concerns to upper management.
- Be actively involved in managing and supporting the team during the shift.
- Oversee employee performance, providing coaching or corrective action as necessary.
- Ensure store security, including proper handling of store keys and alarm systems.
Store Operations & Cleanliness:
- Supervise nightly store closing procedures and ensure all closing tasks are completed.
- Walk the floor throughout the shift to maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Oversee the cleaning of store floors, café areas, bathrooms, and bulk sections.
- Confirm all equipment, including faucets and stove burners, are turned off.
- Secure back doors at all times to maintain store security.
- Count down cash drawers accurately.
- Complete all necessary closing paperwork and ensure accuracy.
Team Supervision & Support:
- Assist staff with assigned closing duties and provide operational guidance.
- Cover employee breaks when needed.
- Be present at the front of the store for the final 10-15 minutes to ensure safety.
Customer Service & Safety:
- Communicate about closing announcements.
- Conduct closing duties with indoor and outdoor equipment.
- Close and lock the front doors, turn off the sliding glass door, and secure door slats.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous retail or grocery experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage a small team.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Cash handling and reconciliation experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with staff and customers.
- Dependability and punctuality for evening shifts.
Schedule & Availability:
- Evening shifts, typically 4:00 PM – Close (approximately 10:00 PM).
- Availability on weekdays and weekends, including holidays as needed.
Salary : $17 - $19
