Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) is responsible for delivering an integrated and consistent approach to the Group’s marketing, external and internal affairs, communications, sustainability, community investment and social impact.
The Corporate Affairs team purpose is to earn trust by building advocacy. We do this through renewing our brand and reputation with our stakeholders, engaging internal and external stakeholders to inspire advocacy and deliver trusted insights to inform decisions. This will achieve our Corporate Affairs ambition to champion a purpose-led CBA.

In this entry level role as a Communications Associate in the CEO and Support Units Corporate Affairs team, you’ll be working with skilled communications professionals and have the opportunity to deepen your excellent communications foundations.
You’ll gain experience in planning, designing, executing and measuring internal and external communication campaigns and events that earn trust by building advocacy. You’ll also contribute to the varied drumbeat of communications activities that drive engagement and connection with a wide variety of stakeholders within the bank and the broader community.
On any given day, you will:
- Manage executive correspondence, with great attention to detail, excellent record keeping and deep respect for our stakeholders
- Coordinate with stakeholders to plan for and execute executive events and activities, including developing itineraries, briefing materials, invitations, pre- and post-event stories
- Support Corporate Affairs senior leaders with annual, quarterly and campaign-related communication planning, using agile and digital tools
- Support internal and external communications strategies, campaigns and activities, and source and prepare reporting and insights to help measure effectiveness
- Support the development of communications collateral including articles, announcements, key messages, social media posts, questions and answers, briefings and speaking notes to align and engage stakeholders with CBA’s purpose, strategy and culture.
- Liaise and build relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
- Support the Business Partner and Senior Manager to monitor and recommend responses to the internal and external operating environment for potential issues, incidents and reputational risk.
- Work across multiple projects and with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to ensure a coordinated approach to internal and external announcements and campaigns.
We’d love to hear from people who have:
- Excellent communication foundations and a love of writing of all kinds, with a high competence with digital channels and social media
- Experience writing for and on behalf of organisations or leaders and corresponding or engaging with customers or the community
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong coordination and planning skills, and willingness to help solve problems, identify risks and get things done
- Experience with corporate or public affairs, communications, media or an agency role in a large business
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to build networks
- Openness, enthusiasm and drive to learn and get better every day, and a great team player who’s happy to pitch in and give things a go
- Experience with and/or tertiary qualifications in communications or related field.
