Our team is responsible for managing credit risk for the Credit Card portfolio. We ensure that all lending activities align with our risk appetite and regulatory requirements. The Credit Strategy Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing credit risk strategies, policies and procedures. The team works closely with Products, Credit Decisioning, Validations and Change Delivery teams to provide the best support in managing credit risk.
In this role you will use your analytical capability to review and improve credit strategies such as managing the initial credit limit offered to our customers, decisioning on high-risk transactions and our automated decline rule suite. You will take charge to support these initiatives through writing business papers and presenting to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve working with the products team on transformational projects focused on improving customer experience.
The team owns the risk strategy for credit cards. Therefore, the ideal candidate for this role will require a level of business acumen along with demonstrated experience in driving decision

Our team is part of the larger Credit Strategy Models and Insights Crew. We foster a very collaborative and supportive working culture. As the Credit Strategy Manager, you will support digital transformation of Credit Cards through taking ownership of the credit risk settings to ensure our settings are relevant and appropriate.
Working closely with the team, you will play a role in writing and presenting business strategy papers, analyzing credit portfolio performance, and working closely with technology and change management teams to deliver changes in credit decisioning strategy
You will use your analytical capability to review and improve credit strategies such as managing the initial credit limit offered, the over-limit strategy, and our automated decline rule suite. You will take charge to support these initiatives through writing business papers and presenting to senior stakeholders.
This role is in based in Perth Australia but we can support remote working if needed.
You’ll have opportunities to work across the following areas:
- Credit Policy Management: You will work closely with colleagues in Products, Loan Validations and Credit Decisioning to identify opportunities to simplify and support organisational objectives.
- Risk Management: You will use your risk mindset and work closely with Line 2 risk to make improvements that are in line with risk appetite. Identify potential risks, dependencies and issues that could impact the business.
- Collaboration: Engage with the broader business such as Line 2 Risk, Products and Crew Leads and communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business Strategy Review: be involved in annual strategy reviews such as the credit limit assignment, automated decisioning rules, and portfolio Key Risk Indicator reviews. This involves doing analytical review of the strategy and then producing a business paper to be presented to the senior leadership team.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders of varying backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience in Credit Card Lending, Risk Management, or Strategy Development would be highly regarded.
- Experience in change management practices, including the ability to communicate with stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds from technical to non-technical.
- You have a risk mindset – proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks
- The ability to generate actionable value-add insights from data – SQL and a passion for coding is highly regarded.
- You enjoy working collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders across the bank Have strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and drive optimal outcomes
