Risk Management is responsible for developing the risk frameworks to allow the Group to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved appetite. As well as ensuring the Group has appropriate strategies and frameworks in place to assess, manage and report on credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks.
Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) Provisioning is part of IB&M Risk COO team. The team is specialised in the provision of accurate and insightful analytics, reporting and regulatory returns to a wide range of stakeholders across both Risk and Business. The team takes pride in delivering value adding insight and optimise the risk adjusted return for business.
You’ll be responsible for the calculation, analysis, monitoring, forecasting and reporting of loan loss provisioning, bad debt and asset quality consistent with the requirements established by Group Risk Management. You will also work with IB&M business & risk teams to review and agree on adjustments and supporting rationales for risk concentration of concerns.
Loan Loss Provisioning
Loan Impairment Expense (LIE) – supporting the delivery of reporting the LIE for the Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) business.
Analysis of the LIE result to explain underlying changes in credit quality and exposures.
Calculation –running the collective provision model and using SAS and SQL skills to investigate, test and run changes to the model.
Reporting – develop, maintain, review, agree and communicate accurate LIE reporting for IB&M. This includes calculation and assurance for collective provisions as well as compilation of all elements of the Loan Loss Provisioning Committee pack which is presented monthly to the relevant business Leadership Team and to Loan Loss Provisioning Committee.
Provisioning adjustment – coordinating with risk and business stakeholders to identify emerging credit risk concentrations, document adjustment rationales, quantify the impact of adjustments, and implement changes to the model.
External Disclosure – assist in delivery of reports required by regulators and the Group for the external disclosure. Perform analysis to explain the trend and provision movement. Conduct reconciliations and checks to ensure the accuracy of result.
Skills and Experience
Strong team work focus with excellence in driving results and delivering customer satisfaction
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
Technical skills in R-Shiny, SQL and SAS to enable data extraction, analysis and model changes.
Strong commercial and business acumen
Good understanding of risk concepts and processes. Be able to explain and interpret their impact on provisioning
Ability to think outside the box and adapt quickly to new situations
Tertiary qualification in an accounting, finance, engineering, mathematic or economics related discipline (desirable)
(3 years) Experience in coding using R-shiny, SAS or SQL for data extraction and analysis (desirable)
AASB 9 experience (desirable)
