OSITION OVERVIEW
The Lending Officer is responsible for the bank’s overall credit quality of the SBA loan portfolio.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs credit review of SBA loan packages submitted for the purpose of evaluating credit quality and adequacy of loan file documentation with respect to SBA guidelines and requirements and the Bank’s loan policy and procedures
- Provides recommendation for final credit grades and eligibility for CLO, MLC and DLC to approve
- Monitors and verifies that SBA loans have obtained proper approval levels
- Monitors and verifies monthly bank-wide loan production data
- Monitors and verifies month end loan balances and loan portfolio reports
- Responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate production of various reports in accordance to the Bank’s Loan Monitoring Guidelines and for preparing and submitting related reports to CLO, MLC, and DLC
- Responsible for preparation, coordination and follow-up of the regulatory examinations by FRB, DFI, PARRiS
- Reviews and loan review audits
- Monitors and performs reviews of SBA loans at the individual and portfolio levels on a periodic basis as to their compliance with the loan covenants and the ticklers and the appropriateness of risk ratings
- Maintains knowledge of all internal and external risk factors for all credit transaction
- Monitors ongoing changes to SBA guidelines and regulations and implementation of changes to Bank’s SBA loan policies and procedures
- Reviews of loan policy and procedures in conjunction with types of loans reviewed
- Recommends credit policy changes/enhancements where warranted to further improvement processes
- Acts as a liaison among lending units, CLO, and Credit Admin in carrying out the loan policies and loan guidelines of the bank
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the CLO and other senior management
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations with respect to the loan portfolio
- Complies fully with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Code of Conduct, and etc.). Must complete all required training
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires overall qualification to successfully handle the duties described above
- Commercial lending experience
- In-depth knowledge of credit analysis on CRE, C&I, SBA and Trade Finance loans
- Excellent inter-personal skills due to heavy communication with lending staff and senior management
- Strong ability to multi-task and high attention to detail
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience
