Stout’s Island Lodge is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in overseeing the kitchen operations, assisting with menu creation, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation, and leading a talented team of cooks in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Executive Chef to execute high-end dishes for our guests and special events while maintaining a focus on efficiency, consistency, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Ø Assist in the planning and execution of the daily menu, ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared and served to guests.
Ø Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Ø Manage kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, in line with company standards.
Ø Ensure food is prepared in an organized, timely, and efficient manner for both a la carte and group meals, with attention to detail.
Ø Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring waste reduction.
Ø Enforce food safety and cleanliness standards in accordance with health department regulations.
Ø Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement new menus and special event dishes.
Ø Handle customer feedback and dietary requests, ensuring all needs are met with professionalism.
Ø Help manage kitchen staff scheduling and ensure smooth workflow during high-demand periods.
Ø Maintain an organized, clean, and safe kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
Ø Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role, preferably in a resort or fine dining setting.
Ø Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food preparation standards.
Ø Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ø Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ø Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
Ø Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
