The Commercial Loan Specialist provides administrative and technical support to our Commercial Services team. This position requires strong administrative and written/verbal communication skills, and attention to detail. Proficiency in multiple software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other industry-specific software programs (Symitar, LaserPro, Synergy, Servicing Director, SmartSheet) is also required.
The Commercial Loan Specialist responds to member inquiries on commercial lending and refers such inquiries to appropriate parties when needed. They participate in the loan origination process by ordering and reviewing third-party work, such as flood determination, collateral appraisals, etc. They are involved in portfolio management by tracking loans for the annual review process and maintaining appropriate records.
The Commercial Loan Specialist is responsible for the month-end report package sent to management, committees, and the Board of Directors. They are responsible for preparing, organizing, and archiving documents for our participation and direct commercial lending program. They complete loan denials and withdrawals, as assigned. They conduct pre- and post-closing loan audits. They track insurance coverage on commercial real estate loans, as well as exceptions for closed loans. They perform additional duties and activities, as needed, and may be asked to work extended hours.

The duties and responsibilities of a Commercial Loan Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining proper documentation for the daily operation of the department, such as gathering data for new requests and annual reviews.
- Verifying that CCU's lien position on all collateral is solidified with appropriate lien filings recorded and maintained.
- Able to effectively plan and handle multiple duties concurrently, adjusting to fluctuating work volume and job demands.
- Providing prompt and courteous member service for all internal and/or external member requests. This includes responding to member inquiries and questions from attorneys and appraisers.
- Assisting in project management and data analysis when required.
- Complying with all internal policies and procedures, and all laws and regulations pertaining to commercial lending, specifically ECOA, Fair Lending, HMDA, and Regulation B.
- Completing required educational classes and training, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and keeping up with changing regulations impacting commercial lending.
