Job Summary
Provides quality radiologic care through the use of radiologic equipment; performs various patient care activities under nursing supervision; performs various clerical functions as assigned, to support the clinical and Center goals.
Essential Functions
- Provides technical skills involving radiology and fluoroscopy. Takes, labels, and prints radiographs of various parts of the body, intra-operatively and uploads properly to electronic record, if available.
- Confirms that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating x-ray to ensure the minimization of radiation exposure
- Follows principles of aseptic technique during the procedure.
- Keeps record of quality of aprons in stock and performs a yearly apron check to ensure protection is in place.
- Cleans and maintains the x-ray equipment; ensures the preventive maintenance and regulatory survey of equipment is performed in a timely fashion
- Educates and ensures staff is knowledgeable about with radiation devices in keeping with the rules of ALARA.
- Assists in patient and staff education and counseling regarding radiation safety.
- Tracks Dosimetry badges; implements / maintains the badge cycle and process
- Performs assigned nursing support tasks according to policy and procedures, including assisting with OR suite turnover, and other duties as assigned
- Participates in inventory count and participates in regulatory surveys, as appropriate
- Position and secure patients for optimal imaging and safety.
- Obtain diagnostic-quality X-ray images for effective treatment planning
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree Graduate of accredited program in Radiologic Technology required
- 1-2 years Clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist required
- 1-2 years Clinical experience in an ASC intraoperative setting, orthopedic/spine experience preferred

- Prioritizing patient safety during transfers by utilizing appropriate equipment and seeking assistance when necessary to prevent injuries
