Commonwealth Medical Services is seeking a Medical Assistant responsible for performing duties related to the daily operations of a Veterans Disability Clinic.
The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for opening and closing the office on a daily basis. This role is essential for successfully serving our Veteran population and providing a pleasant and efficient exam process. Reliably is of utmost importance; please ensure your confidence in being able to fill the needs of this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Be the primary point of contact for both phone and in-person communications. Take phone messages when needed and greet Veterans as they enter the office, including verification of identity and completing the COVID screening process.
- Monitor daily schedules via online web portal for all providers and track schedule changes and/or cancellations.
- Be comfortable with activities such as interviewing, measuring vital signs and recording information when requested.
- Cleans/sterilizes common areas and treatment rooms.
- Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
- Is capable of performing EKGs and utilizing other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test, or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
- Performs routine laboratory tests/phlebotomy as needed on direction from a provider.
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary for efficient functioning of the daily operations under direction the providers in the office.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Full command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Excellent telephone communication and computer skills
- Knowledge of clerical functions
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred
- Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
