Commonwealth North is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead its mission of empowering Alaskans through innovative policy solutions, collaborative leadership, and impactful community engagement.
The ideal candidate will being expertisein managing key stakeholders, marketing, and non-profit leadership, combined with a passion for driving institutional change. This role requires a visionary leader who can amplify Commonwealth North's influence, deepen its connections with stakeholders, and expand its reach through innovative communication and event strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Expand Commonwealth North's role as a leader in institutional change, fostering actionable solutions that benefit Alaskans and strengthen the state economy.
- Inspire and mobilize policymakers, board members, sponsors, and community leaders around a shared vision for Alaska's future.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to ensure Commonwealth North's programs align with its mission and long-term goals.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, sponsors, policymakers, and community partners.
- Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the Board, fostering alignment and collaboration.
- Cultivate sponsor and member relationships to secure funding, in-kind support, and other resources vital to the organization's sustainability.
Marketing and Outreach
- Lead marketing strategies to promote Commonwealth North's events, programs, initiatives, ensuring maximum reach and engagement.
- Oversee the dissemination of ideas and information through social media, news outlets, YouTube, and podcasts, broadening Commonwealth North's audience and impact.
- Develop compelling messaging to attract sponsors, partners, and members, highlighting the organization's value and achievements.
Event and Program Leadership
- Plan and execute workshops, interactive speaker events, and community forums that convene leaders and citizens to explore Alaska's opportunities and challenges.
- Ensure high-quality event management, from concept development to post-event reporting, to deliver value to participants and stakeholders.
- Market events effectively to diverse audiences, leveraging innovative approaches to maximize attendance and engagement.
Organizational Management
- Manage the day-to-day opertaions of Commonwealth North, including overseeing budgets, volunteers, and contractors.
- Hire and manage contractors, ensuring accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, using data to inform continuous improvement.
Non-Profit Leadership
- Serve as the primary leader andf spokesperson for Commonwealth North, representing the organization to the public and key stakeholders.
- Leverage previous experience as an executive director or president of a non-profit to ensure organizational growth and sustainability.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability among staff, contractors, and board members.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience leading a non-profit organization in an executive director or president role.
- Proven expertise in managing board members, sponsors, members, and other stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
- Experience in marketing events or businesses, with a demonstrated ability to build audiences and generate engagement.
- Strong background in organizing and managing events, workshops, and forums.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience with media outreach, social media strategy, and content creation.
- Proven track record of securing sponsorships, cultivating partnerships, and driving organizational growth.
- Deep understanding of Alaska's policy, economic, and cultural landscape is highly preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading large-scale initiatives with measurable community and stakeholder impact.
- Expertise in budget management and securing funding from diverse sources, including sponsorships and memberships.
- Active involvement in professional or community organizations, demonstrating a commitment to leadership and service.
