Job Description: Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role at Commonwealth OBGYN. As a Medical Assistant you are the first point of contact for patients prior to seeing the provider. Medical Assistants have key responsibilities in the coordination of many day-to-day office activities.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Responsible for providing a professional level of customer service and responding effectively and thoroughly
Responsibilities include but are not limited to rooming patients which includes obtaining vitals and documenting in the electronic medical record. Informs provider of patients ’vital signs and concerns
Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential
Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedures and exams
Stocking and cleaning exam rooms and clinical station
Assists providers with procedures
Maintains and uses aseptic technique including sterilization, disinfection and disposal of contaminated material
Collects and processes routine laboratory specimen
Operates and maintains clinical equipment by following operating instructions, maintaining supplies, perform preventive maintenance and calling for repairs
Cleans, wraps and autoclaves instruments
Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Participates in training new staff as instructed
Various office duties as assigned by Office Manager
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to comprehend detailed information and communicate that information in a comprehensible manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
“Can do” attitude with an emphasis on teamwork
Candidates must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task, highly interactive customer service environment
Self-motivated with the ability to exceed patient expectations
Excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks
Flexibility to support change, with varying schedules as necessary
Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
Resume must demonstrate stable employment history

Availability Requirements:
Ability to work a full-time schedule, 40 hours a week. Monday-Friday hours may vary depending upon office needs
