The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks.
COME WORK FOR THE NEWEST JUDGE ON THE COURT OF APPEALS! Judge Moynahan was appointed in April 2025 and has an immediate need for two (2) Staff Attorneys. A Staff Attorney for a Judge on the Court of Appeals is responsible for reviewing legal briefs and the appellate record, conducting legal research, writing bench memoranda, and editing and preparing opinions for the Judge. This position will be in Fayette County. Previous Staff Attorney or Judicial Law Clerk experience desired, but not required.
Examples Of Duties Or Responsibilities Of This Classification
EDUCATION: Juris Doctor degree – Graduate of an accredited law school
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Graduate of accredited law school and in good standing with KBA. To be an attorney in the state of Kentucky, one must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, pass Kentucky’s bar exam, and be in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association. Candidates not yet licensed will be hired as a Law Clerk and reclassified as a Staff Attorney with a 7% salary increase upon Kentucky Bar admission. Outstanding 3L students graduating with a J.D. by May 2025 may apply but must have their degree before hire.
