The Finance and Administration Cabinet’s Department for Facilities and Support Services (DFSS) leads the way in engineering innovation to support growth and sustainability. DFSS leads maintenance and architectural/engineering strategies to ensure peak operational performance and to spearhead project management excellence to deliver impactful outcomes.
Driving mechanical maintenance initiatives, DFSS ensures reliability and performance while ensuring employees have a clean and safe working environment. DFSS oversees surplus property management, as well as the acquisition, sale and leasing of real property statewide, supporting the Commonwealth’s broader operational and financial goals.
Position is not 100% telecommuting eligible, does require work in regular office setting.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in engineering, project management, and maintenance to achieve organizational objectives that support the goals of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
- Work with other agency executives and departments to develop and implement strategies to ensure the reliability, safety, and sustainability of mechanical systems and infrastructure.
- Assist the Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary by serving as key advisor on capital projects and others across the Commonwealth.
- Oversee the successful execution of projects, including capital projects, from conception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, utilizing cutting-edge tools and methodologies to optimize processes and performance.
- Serve as a key advisor on engineering, architecture and maintenance initiatives, aligning them with the organization's strategic vision.
- Manage relationships with cabinet leadership, stakeholders, and external vendors for services, products, leases and contract negotiations.
- Oversee the Commonwealth’s Surplus Property establishment responsible for the evaluation, repurpose or disposal of surplus assets ensuring alignment with operational and financial goals.
- Manage the Finance and Administration Cabinet’s Lease Property operations, overseeing the acquisition, sale, and leasing of property throughout the Commonwealth.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and development of the Department for Facilities and Support Services.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees in engineering, business administration, or project management are a plus.
- 10 years of leadership experience in engineering, maintenance, or project management roles, including 5 years in a senior management role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and large-scale projects effectively.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical systems, infrastructure maintenance, and operational efficiency.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
