This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged through training and mentoring opportunities.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections and/or education.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in corrections, justice administration, or law will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in corrections will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Statewide travel will be required to conduct training programs.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
- Provides research, curriculum development and instruction in correctional security, treatment, legal issues, operations, health and safety areas and other related areas.
- Conducts research and develops instructional materials, lesson plans and other curriculum for Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) training.
- Plans and organizes training events for DJJ staff.
- Provides input into the development of the annual training plans in facilities, calendars and other training documents.
- Provides in-service training and academy training.
- Submits training and progress reports and provides feedback regarding staff training performance. Completes all related documentation as required.
- Statewide travel will be required to provide and conduct training.
