Description
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs many varied functions for the Cabinet for Health and FamilyServices. OIG has six divisions : Division of Regulated Child Care, Division of Health Care, Certificate ofNeed, Division of Kentucky Health Information Exchange, Division of Telehealth, and the Division of Audits andInvestigations. These divisions cover a wide variety of job tasks and duties in varied settings throughoutKentucky, which include inspecting and licensing childcare and healthcare facilities and services, andconducting investigations of complaints in those facilities, as well as conducting Medicaid fraud and othertypes of complaints for the Cabinet.
The Dietetic Inspector completes surveys for certification and licensing of various types of health carefacilities in the Northern Enforcement Branch. One of the primary duties of this position is working as apart of a team or independently to conduct dietary inspections for healthcare facilities to determine ifdeficient practices exist in a facility. This includes conducting complaint investigations, documentingviolations, and determining facility compliance.

This position does require extensive in-state travel, overtime, weekend work, and overnight stays depending onthe type of survey and the location of the facility being inspected. It also requires the physical abilityand energy to traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods of time during surveys and inspections.
This position reports to an office in Louisville (Jefferson Co.), KY and works with a survey team in thefollowing counties : Breckinridge, Bullitt, Carroll, Gallatin, Hardin, Hart, Henry, Jefferson, Larue, Meade,Nelson, Oldham, Owen, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble. Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct inspections of healthcare facilities and services for licensure and certification purposes.
- Investigate complaints of regulatory violations in healthcare facilities.
- Write Statements of Deficiencies and Type A citations.
- Create written documents detailing findings of non-compliance in healthcare facilities and descriptions of information gathered.
- Make final determinations related to complaint investigations.
- Schedule and conduct revisits to determine compliance.
- Monitor facility if termination or closure occur.
- Participate in conferences, webinars, and other types of mandatory and optional training to improve knowledge and skills related to regulation of health care facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : Must be licensed as a dietitian by the Ky. Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists Must be registered as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work typically involves travel.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
