By joining the Division of Water Drinking Water Branch, Compliance Section as an Environmental Scientist Advisor in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to work across agency and organizational lines, with the public and with the regulated community to provide technical assistance in the reporting, analysis and management of drinking water monitoring data for compliance with Federal and State drinking water regulations.

Holders of the Environmental Scientist Advisor position will complete tasks such as:
- Coordinate implementation of Federal and State drinking water regulations, including taking on a leadership role under the branch manager.
- Provide and coordinate technical assistance to public water systems, section supervisors, outside organizations, and field operations about regulatory compliance; evaluate if compliance criteria have been met
- Provide trainings and develop training and communication materials for public water systems and partner organizations
- Develop data management tools for drinking water data electronic submittal, and coordinate with other branches and agencies to develop those tools.
- Develop guidance and processes for data analysis of drinking water data.
- Present at conferences and industry meetings; represent Division of Water to outside agencies and public water systems.
- Interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations
- Environmental monitoring and/or data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience in databases or data management with multiple data systems
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication
- Leadership skills, including project coordination and collaboration with multiple organizations.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office setting. Incumbents in this class may perform work in the field with frequent travel on a statewide basis. An incumbent in the position may be subject to adverse weather conditions, exposure to snakes and insects, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, rusty metal in streams, and hazards common to operation of electro-fishing equipment, which requires the following of safety procedures.
