The Department for Local Government (DLG) serves the Commonwealth’s local governments. The agency provides assistance in the way of grant and loan assistance, as well as advises counties, cities and special districts in matters of budget, personnel and other issues relevant to those entities.
Key Responsibilities
The State programs to oversee are as follows: Local Government Economic Development Fund (LGEDF), Local Government Economic Assistance Fund (LGEAF), Regional Development Agency Assistance Program (RDAAP), Line-Item Appropriations, Government Resources Accelerating Needed Transformation ("GRANT") Program, Energy Efficiency Program, Kentucky Mountain Regional Recreation Authority (KMRRA), Kentucky Ohio River Regional Recreation Authority (KORRRA), Endow Kentucky, Flood Control Local Match Participation Program, Area Development Fund, Joint Funding Administration.
Oversee the process of applications, monitor and evaluate the grant projects, which will include occasional travel.

- Serves as coordinator and oversees the implementation for the state and federal grants disbursed through the Department for Local Government.
- Provides technical assistance to divisions of local government and potential/current grant and line-item recipients on guidelines processes and policies of the grants division.
