This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged through training and mentoring opportunities.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Will be on call 24 hours a day. Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
- Must have Wastewater Operator Certification.
- Performs maintenance of Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility and grounds.
- Inspects/repairs all equipment and completes preventative maintenance as needed; develops preventative maintenance plan.
- Orders necessary parts/supplies and maintains inventory.
- Supervises maintenance contract employees/oversees juveniles assisting with maintenance projects.
- Performs weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections of facility, equipment and grounds.
- Makes requests for contract services as needed and oversees outside vendor repairs.
- Develops work schedules.
- Keeps basic records of activities.
- Coordinates conditions for safety, sanitation and security devices with fire and safety personnel.
- Interprets and ensures compliance of policies and procedures.
- Attends trainings and meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
