The Kentucky School for the Deaf ensures that deaf and hard of hearing children and youth in Kentucky have educational opportunities to develop their potential to become educated, life-long learners and productive citizens. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess full licensure as an interpreter issued by the KENTUCKY BOARD OF INTERPRETERS FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Interprets in a wide variety of settings and in situations. May require frequent overnight travel both in and out of state.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Provides interpreting and transliterating services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in a variety of settings.
- Provides interpreting and transliterating services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in a one-on-one group setting in a variety of settings.
- Assist in securing interpreters in response to requests for interpreters locally or statewide.
- Provide technical assistance to school districts, agencies and professionals related to sign language and interpreting.
- Maintain interpreting and sign language services office through typing, filing, scheduling, correspondence and upkeep of library of reference materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
